Geek Socialization

Well now the UCD is back in session, their anime club, which is open to the general non UCD public, is as well. It’s nice to get out and socialize with people with similar interest and geek out, OUT! During the club we just kick back for a couple hours in a class room and watch anime on the projector. Usually after the meeting, we meet up somewhere. For example after Wednesdays meetings, we have the habit of going to a local crepe shop and set up laptops and LAN while eating delicious food =D

Think I might have to take my less than awesome canon powershot a590 and take some pictures to post here sometime within the next few meetings. It would be nice if I could get a higher quality camera though. It would be nicer if I could even photograph things better too, lol.

So anyways, being that this was the first meeting of the school year, a few of us were extremely surprised to see the amount of new faces there. Someone was obviously doing a great job of spreading the word to the new freshmen on campus. I do have to admit though, it’s a little weird being around so many people about 10 years my “kouhai”. The majority of the weirdness though I think stems from the fact that 10 years ago, I wasn’t young enough to get so swept up into that pokemon craze as they were, if you catch my drift. Regardless of some taste in anime, it’s great to get out and socialize over otaku hobbies rather than talk about them over the internet. Not that I have anything against you people…. =p

So any of you do anything similar for a IRL geek out socializing ?
