*update* Seems Kadokawa has already put Haruhi-chan up. Here is the link.
In other news from Tomshardware.com Microsoft put up a $250,000 bounty up for the conficker worm author. Not really big news I guess, but interesting nevertheless.
There is just 1 week left of 2008 so it’s time for some of that year end reflection stuff. So just what did 2008 bring ? Some freaking good animes, thats what ! Didn’t even occur to me just what gems we got until I started reflecting back on what we got. Now I can go into detail here, but I already went into some pretty good detail on my Official 2008 Anime Review Page
However Just to make this front page look important, I will mention a few things. We got a few good sequels. Gundam 00, xxxHOLLiC, and Code Geass. We got some new gems of anime from Kannagi and Macross frontier, and most off all we got a few good contenders for next years Saimoe contest with the likes of Ranka Lee, Tagia, “Golden Darkness” Yami, Nogizaka Haruka, Nagi, the Kounji sisters, and oh so many more. (feel free to comment with some links/images of your favorite moe girls of 2008, actually I beg you to!!)
I really got a lot of enjoyment out of some new anime series. Specifically Allison to Lillia, Tales of the Abyss, Tytania, Spice and Wolf, and Kannagi. (oh why must Kannagi end) What were some of your favorites ?
Also, what were some of your favorite opening/endings for the year ? There were quite a number of ones that I liked. However the allison to lillia opening(s) I thought were pretty impressionable, but for some reason I really dig the tales of the abyss opening. I really like the song, and the animation sequence was nice, and I thought it was cool the way they put in kind of a preview of the current episode into it. I am also a sucker for the way they start the opening by playing the intro music over the opening scene of the anime, and then plug into the opening animation when the lyrics kick in.
There is just a few weeks left of the year. Holy crap, right? Well before I do one of those famous year end review type things, I would like to take a time out to discuss what the future of 2009 has in store for us Otaku anime wise. Sequels, LOTS of them.
Anime has been on the rise in popularity lately, despite dwindling dvd sales (Thats more the economies fault there though). With the surge of popularity there is an explosion of fanbase in series, and that means a lot of people have had a hard time saying good bye to certain series. Well it seems a lot of the goodbyes were said to soon. Let us take a look at what exactly what we got coming our way
To LOVE-Ru OVA, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei, Pani Poni Dash OVA, Tsubasa Chronicle:Shunraiki, Kodomo no Jikan second term, xxxHollic Shunmuki, Ichigo Mashimaro Encore, Koihime Musou, Utawaremono, Street Fighter, Sekirei (Da Capo, Kamen No Maidguy dec 22.)
Movies
Trigun !!! Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha, Gundam Seed, Rebuild of Evangeline 2, One Piece movie 10, La Rose De Versailles, Chocolate Underground, Detective Conan and I am sure we can count on seeing a Naruto and Bleach movie as usual too.
I would love to keep linking more, and I might later, but i already spent like an hour on this. Just look up what perks your curiosity at the sources I went to.Anime News Network, AniDB, myanimelist.net
Now there is a lot I am looking forward, particularly all of it. I am such a whore for anime. However, I exceptionally look forward to Hayate no Gotoku, Miname Ke, Major and Hajime no Ippo. Now I just have to wish for more School Rumble and I can be assured many many laughs in 2009. (miname and hayate should do a good enough job for it though). Also I am really really really looking forward to Trigun. I mean who isn’t right. It’s been something people have been waiting for a decade for! MMM trigun. I think I am going to go wrap this blog up now and grab me some donuts. Before I go though, leave a comment about what your looking forward to most this upcoming year
With that I leave you some left over tainted donuts….
